CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF CARING

In 2021 Broadway Lodge celebrates 40 years of ‘Excellence in Care’ and community building.

Opening on March 17, 1981, Broadway Pentecostal Lodge welcomed its first residents as an intermediate care home providing care and community to 114 Vancouver seniors. Over the years, the Lodge has adapted to resident needs and changes implemented by the Health Authority resulting in a change of care level to complex care. Today the Lodge meets the needs of seniors with complex 24-hour nursing care needs with love and compassion.

Some of the milestone changes that have occurred through the years include the acquisition of a bus for community outings, various renovations to update and accommodate unique care needs, a dramatic renovation to beautify and expand the rooftop garden space and still more renovations pending to further adapt the care environment for comfort and support of the care needs of our residents living with dementia.

We have been blessed with dynamic team members over the years who form the heart of the Lodge and bring to life the mission of ‘excellence in care.’ This has been accomplished both by staff and volunteers, including a volunteer board of directors, who have contributed countless hours of service between them.

At forty years, Broadway Lodge is still young and growing. Providing 21st Century care continues to inform our practice and shape our vision. The Lodge is committed to its mission of ‘excellence in care’ and continues to strive to bring meaning and purpose to the lives of our residents with dignity and respect while promoting quality of life.
